the yellow wall paper
I loved this story it was so eerie I actually felt like I was going mad myself. I found so much symbolism throughout the story. The fact that her name wasn’t revealed until the very end of the story, I feel this helped to show how inferior she felt compared to her husband. The unmovable bed, I feel it represented her marriage. You know the line” You make your bed now lay in it .She allowed herself like many women during this time period to be subdued and have no say. When she bit into the bed I feel it was representing her freeing herself form such a misassemble marriage, a change in the old fashioned traditions of marriage. Of course the obvious ones were the lady in the wallpaper, which represented Jane. What I didn’t pay much attention to until reading it again was the baby, maybe Jane suffered from post partum depression because she wasn’t caring for her baby herself. Every time I read it I come up with interruptions for things in the story.
